Welcome to Coach.Pro’s running course. We’ll introduce you to our four coaches, give you some quick wins for your training and cover everything from growth mindset to nutritional basics. Within this chapter, you’ll gain knowledge across all disciplines of running and will be able to see impact in your training from day one.

Chapter 2 outlines the tools, techniques and knowledge you need to achieve your goals. We’ll go through a different aspect of training in each sub-chapter with Martin, starting from the basics.

From pace to time management and planning, this chapter helps you understand and perfect the basics of running.

Nutrition is paramount for runners. We’ll investigate the fundamentals of nutrition, looking at the key ideas at the start of your running journey. Alex covers the basics of nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet; including a look into carbs + protein as the essential running fuel.

We’ll learn more about running technique, building your confidence and improving your performance. Martin offers simple and direct help to improve form and Simon shares his expertise as a physio for analysis and improvement.

Trainers are the most important purchase for any runner. A good pair of running shoes improves time, comfort and endurance. Simon identifies the perfect shoes for you by explaining the difference in types of running shoes and what to look for when buying.

Based on a key area of mental toughness, setting and achieving your goals with running is critical for success and improvement. Josie teaches the 4 key steps of goal setting (outcome, progress, process, smarter), and includes actionable tasks to help.

Alex covers the importance of fuel for runners from before, during and after training. Taking time to plan your training diet improves your progress significantly. We’ll also cover hydration and cramps so no stone is left unturned.

Thinking of your next (or first) marathon? We’ll cover endurance training, building distance, the mental barriers of long distances and even the necessary nutrition for races from half to ultra marathon.

Speed isn’t everything for running, but it’s pretty important. We’ll teach you how to adjust your training to get your head (and your body) ready for a new PB.

We all know that running can be a great way to burn calories, but many overlook the huge mental health benefits that come with the mileage. Josie and Simon talk about staying healthy and positive in both the mind and the body, including topics like race pressure and even some great exercises for the gym (or the living room).

Ever got injured in the lead up to a race? Don’t give up! We’ll look at the importance of mental flexibility and focus, as well as rehabilitation and active nutrition for repair.

From shin splints to knee pain, everyone experiences injuries on their running journey. Learn about the causes, warning signs and recovery of common running issues from a professional physiotherapist.

Event preparation helps towards the end of your training and is perfect for the final week before your race. This covers tapering, diet and nutrition as well as the mental task of approaching a race.

With the race right in front of you, we’ll tackle how to make the most out of your training including race strategy, nutrition and pacing.

Rest and recovery is just as critical as your training, and we’ll look at recovery to ensure you stay fit and healthy after the race. We’ll cover everything from hydration, sleep and race strategy to mental analysis of your performance, plus the essential celebration.

Now we’ve covered all aspects of running and you’ve grown as a runner, we’ll build on your successes until now. Whatever the next challenge, from a triathlon or a 5K, the key is to keep moving!
